SEXUALLY PREYED By: Africax5

I want to bring awareness about sexual predators and our girls! This is a forbidden subject in the black community because maybe it happened to you or maybe it is going on right now in your house! It doesn’t matter who don’t like my post because if this post saves one then it served its purpose.  If a child informs you someone has touched them act on it! Most people are taught not to talk about it, well those days are over! Let talk about things that are inappropriate! When I was a kid sexual predators were our neighbours or family members.  But our kids today face online predators who are comfortable driving across states just to entice your child! They are facing and dealing with things we didn’t! Let these number stay with you! 1 out of 4 girls is molested or sexually preyed on.  That means take four girls and one of them has been assaulted. We have to stand up for our girls! If you know someone that is a predator speak!!!!!!!!! They generally hurt seve...

America's Bounty Diplomacy By: Daud Muhammad

In the American frontier, emergent societies functioned barely within the law and citizens had to contend with all manner of brigands. In the absence of a standard police force, self-help was key to social order. Those who could not muster enough guns and men to secure their honour or recover stolen property offered rewards (bounties) and frequently hired professional 'thieftakers' to track and bring fugitives to justice 'dead or alive'. Ironically, the thieftakers were often themselves criminals yet at large ...  Further details have emerged on the US$2,000,000 –ransom placed on Liberia's former (democratically elected) president Charles Taylor by the American government. The reward clause was allegedly 'smuggled' into a Bill for the funding of Mr. Bush's escapade in Iraq, and some Congressmen have even threatened to stop American aid to Nigeria until Taylor is handed over. The Bush administration is aware that Mr. Taylor's Nigerian exile is ...

MY RELICS Of OUR BEL💚VED EKITI By: Aladejana Oluwatoyin

1977, The year I finally attained the Big 1-0! (i.e 10 Years-Old). An irrefutable activity inundated year in Nigeria, as "FESTAC '77" The Festival Of Arts And Culture, held in Lagos State, our Country's seat of government at the time, FESTAC 77 would liberally qualify as Nigeria's pre-occupational event of All-Time. Among the notable highlights of 1977 were; my bright pink, brick hard, sugar iced,10th birthday cake; the establishment of NNPC, and the raid of Fela's "Kalakuta Republic under General Obasanjo's military leadership. It's 6am in  the month of December, though it feels like a 3am assault on my young, sleep deprived eyes. Mum and Dad bundled us and our pre-packed luggage into their wine red, fueled up Volvo 244DL, license plate: "WP 2233". See you in the New Year, Ibadan, as "EKITI" Urgently "Beckons! Next stop, 'Osu'; the Atakumosa West local government town, renowned for her culinary expertis...

MY PERCEPTION OF CORRUPTION By: Fagbohun Oyewole

Corruption is everywhere. It's from time immemorial. It's corrupt practices that made Judas to disappoint Jesus Christ.  Politically, the act of corruption varies geographically. In most cases, in the advanced world, a corrupt officer will like to resign position, when caught.  Its not so in the case of developing world. That's why the act is very perturbing in this part of the world I find myself. We can only minimize the degree of the act of corruption. Globally,  it's very unrealistic to be eradicated. Let's try our possible best in whatever we do to minimize this evil act.

FARWELL OF A MOTHER By:Oluwajimi Thorpe

Verse 1 My dear daughter Ajike, I have escorted you enough. Mothers never follow their children to their husbands' homes. When you get into your husband’s home, do not argue with your in-laws. Behave in the way we taught you. My dear daughter, I cannot go further with you. May my head lead you. Hmm! May the Creator lead you, my daughter. Verse 2 May the Creator lead you, my daughter. Hmm!! May my head lead you. My dear daughter, I cannot go further with you. Behave in the way we taught you. When you get into your husband’s home, do not argue with your in-laws. Mothers never follow their children to their husbands' homes. My dear daughter Ajike, I have escorted you enough. Verse 3 My dear daughter Ajike, I have escorted you enough. When you get into your husband’s home, do not argue with your in-laws. My dear daughter, I cannot go further with you. Hmm!!! May the Creator lead you, my daughter. May my head lead you. I TURN MY BACK TO THE TROUBLES OF LIFE. By: Lawani David

The bigotry, hypocrisy, mediocrity, and extremism, especially in a country like ours.  I shut my ears away from the screams of pain: the shouts of hate. My life is beautiful, that's what I wanna see and all I need to know. I won't allow religious or societal norms tell me how to live it, I won't live in pain because I have to please religion or society. I wouldn't live in fear no more, I won't live feeling isolated, I would not be a bigot and I would not accommodate bigotry or hypocrisy. I would stay on my lane, you wanna be a part of it?  Thank you. You wanna be a judgemental hero? Take your saint abilities out of my life, take it to HEAVEN please. Ride your boat and let me ride mine as well, life is as big as an ocean, it can accommodate alot of boats and even ships - sail or ride freely, don't just sink mine. I don't know how I made it to another year, but I beat the odds. And I would not sacrifice myself for the primitivism of thi...

The African culture and the black generation. By:Olaniyi Adeoluwa

Slowly, slowly, slowly have we dwindled and taken a well prolonged sabbatical leave from the common sense mentality that our fore fathers once portrayed when they unshakenly beheld the cultural value that stood Germane and core closely in their hearts.  When we thought they were getting it right, in came the colonial Master's bringing with them the love of the almighty and condemning the religious beliefs and symbols that held them for generations, Our Fathers were colonised they were made to speak English and think like the whites but I must chip this in, once it is not white it can never be white.  Our fathers began the misinterpretation process but did well not to forget what their values were, this prompted them to fight for freedom which they ultimately got.  We had a standard traditional form of ruling our selves and we were getting it right until we tried to mimic the English way of ruling and we ended up fighting a civil war.  We didn't realise ...

THE WORLD FAÇADE. By: Oluwajimi.J.Thorpe

O God, my Creator, is it a curse you made me a Black man? My Creator, is it a sin to be Black that my people are being killed unjustly around the world? O God, is it my fate that I was the one that laboured and tilled the ground for the survival of the world? My Creator, why is it that I tend to be raped, abused, maltreated and exploited without getting JUSTICE? O God, they made us conspire against one another. My Creator, why did you allow me to work as a slave? Why, did you allow me to be taken away from my ROOT through the stone way, to an alien land? Why did you make the world seem one-sided, and I being the specie for it's labour, experiment and exploitation? O God, after the abolition of slave trade, they came again with a more advanced extortion concept called, MODERNIZATION THEORY, which was conceptualized from one geographical region. O God, they tend to propel MY LEADERS with sanctions, wars and blackmails ...

SEXY HEALTH By: Amethyst Saw

I heard the sound of the 1:50pm alarm. My phone sounded like someone was slowly pouring glitter, cake sprinkles and golden magic dust on four words. "Take oral contraceptive now!" glowed on the phone screen. My neon lemon lacquered finger nails unzipped my purse and pulled out the combination oral pill pack. Pum! The tiny yellow pill dropped into my right palm. My palm threw it into my mouth. It was closely followed by a torrent of Eva bottle water. I felt satisfied with the amount of water I just drank. My throat didn't feel like the pill had grabbed on to it. Refusing to be flushed towards activation.  My vajayjay's health is as important as credit alerts. It has always been important to me. My mother encouraged my younger self to get acquainted with my lady part, as she called them. Every question I had were answered with love and non-judgement. Little wonder during Primary One's colorful art class I explained to my table buddies where babies ...
