TOGETHER WE CAN By: Isa Abass USAMN [SIR~ANALIZER]

_____ANALIZER WRITES✍__ I haven't forgotten That I am just one person, That I am but one voice Attempting to stand out From the crowd. I remember That I have fallen Amidst the laughter That surrounds me, and that sometimes It gets too loud. I know That I can't sit here And expect my silence To evoke change Without reason. I can see That I don't know everything, That I can't expect My hand to be held Always. I can feel That time is slipping By me, that it Will be gone if I just Stand still. I have heard That there are a million Other voices that sound Like mine, that want also To be heard. I've been told That it's not enough to Wish for dreams, that I Have to work them Into reality. I know that I don't know All that I think I know. I know I won't see all of The places I wish to go. I know I'm not ready For all that the world demands, You don't have to always hold me, Just let me see your hand...

*RELIGION AND POLITICS* By: Abdulkabeer.B.

"Why will you have such keen interest in politics? It's not meant for Muslims!" This was the response I got from my mom after telling her how I felt about Nigeria and my interest in politics. There's no doubt, she has her reasons for saying this. Most Nigerians have chosen to remain politically apathetic. Do you blame them? Who goes to a polling unit where political thugs shoot anyone who doesn't corporate with them ? Where ballot boxes are snatched and electoral malpractices hold sway? Where election riggers boast of more votes with impunity? Where the presence of security troops is just for formality? I pity Nigeria! Nauseated at this sorry turn of events and envious of the way things are done in saner societies, I made the decision to go into politics when I'm old enough. In reaction to mom's comment, I asked to know who politics was meant for. She said it's for thugs and selfish interest seekers. While all the woes in our political systems...

Painful letters By: Marvee

Every time I feel this way This terrifying kind of pain These twitchy palms and muffled sobs These weakened sights and mindless slob I would think of something To put me at ease, anything At times, to leave my world And be someone else, not a dud Often times I would write on plain sheet Write till my limbs felt weak Write till the page is covered in ink Write till the painful times shift.                                              ©-Marvee

STAGNATION OF THE NIGERIAN STATE: (A FAILURE OF THE NIGERIAN YOUTH) BY; SHOTUNDE OLADIMEJI

The Nigerian state has been bedevilled by some negative phenomena which has had an effect on its progress as a nation. This has come in the form of corruption, absence of patriotism, general restiveness, unstable economy and above all; negligence on the part of the youths. All these are inimical to the growth and development of a nation. They  would be extensively discussed, in a lucid manner, as we move on in this write-up. Stagnation is a process or level of inactivity; when one is neither moving nor progressing,for a long period of time. Using the Nigerian state as an example, it is easy to conclude that the country lacks the necessary drive to be in tandem with the advanced countries of the world. Failure is defined by the Oxford Advanced Learners' Dictionary as the inability to meet up with an intended goal or objective. Relating this to the Nigerian youths, the questions are: Have we been able to proffer solutions to the country's economic problems? Have we been abl...

TELL THEM

Go back to them And tell this to them; Tell them of the veiled beast, That follows their expressions- suit, Tell them of the swallowed sword, That has swallows moulded around it, Piercing us on our faces, As they stand at their phase. Tell them of the lump buried in our eyebrow; Reason why we stopped looking up to them, And tell them! Tell them that what they say create not a way for us. Tell them their speeches does not make us. Tell them their confessions does not move us; And tell them their disappointment does not hurt us. David O. ÀKÀNÓ {KING JUSTICE}
