KNOWING YOUR TRUE FRIENDS By: Oluwajimi Thorpe

Happy weekend to my readers, I will be writing on a very significant topic we all need to check in our life to see if we are making progress in our daily activities.
                            WHO IS A FRIEND?
A friend is someone you love and who loves you, someone you respect and respects you, someone you trust and trusts you, someone who is happy to spend time with you doing absolutely nothing at all, someone that doesn’t care if you are ugly or boring, someone who forgives you no matter what you do, someone who tries to help you even when everything is confusing , someone who will sacrifice their life and happiness for you, someone that doesn’t care if you are rich or poor.
Looking at this definition given above, how many of us can say to ourselves that we have friends in our life, how many of us can say we have people that will stand for us during our hardest time, how many people you call your friends are really your friends.
HOW MANY WILL  STAND BY YOU WHEN YOU HAVE NOTHING?
HOW MANY WILL STAY ON BOARD WHEN THE SHIP IS SINKING?
HOW MANY CAN RECEIVE STROKES OF CANE FOR YOU?
HOW MANY WILL GIVE YOU A HELPING HAND WHEN YOU NEED THEM?

‘’A TRUE FRIEND CAN ONLY BE IDENTIFIED DURING YOUR HARDEST TIME’’O.J.THORPE
I don’t know about you, but I know about myself that this year I am changing a lot of fake people in my life, if you have someone that can at least do half of what I listed above hold on to them.
But if it’s the opposite, you just have to drop all those people for you to grow in life, you may feel you can’t do without them but later you will find out that it was the best thing that happened in your life, some friends tend not to add value in our life, they tend to slow you down, they tend to always expect from you without them at least giving a bit.
‘’Some friends are just in your life for what they can get from you, not for what they can share with you’’O.J.THORPE.
If i may ask you WHY DO YOU STILL KEEP THIS TYPE OF PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE?
Can you ask yourself WHAT VALUE IS THIS PERSON ADDING TO MY LIFE?
Some people just have to leave your life for you to grow, if you are not growing in life you most also check the people around you that you call friends.
‘’A TRUE FRIEND IS LIKE YOUR SHADOW, WE RISE AND FALL TOGETHER’’O.J.THORPE.
I can’t choose your friend for you, I can only enlighten you on the true meaning of the word FRIEND.

Painful letters By: Marvee

Every time I feel this way This terrifying kind of pain These twitchy palms and muffled sobs These weakened sights and mindless slob I would think of something To put me at ease, anything At times, to leave my world And be someone else, not a dud Often times I would write on plain sheet Write till my limbs felt weak Write till the page is covered in ink Write till the painful times shift.                                              ©-Marvee

The So Called Queen By:Salawu Olubunmi

_The so called queen of the zanger A woman of misery and deceptive appearance Wags tongue in a swordlike How angelic she be when seeking the honey frm it's comb With her romantic but deceitful display The first sight of her left me in dismay First encounter with her was heartrending Such a sweet poison A devil in disguise wit an angelic face The so called queen can neither be embraced nor avoided.

THE GCE GIRL By: OLUSEGUN AKINSANYA

Every year we welcome into our community several teenagers between 13 and 17 from far and near. They are both male and female. They have the same mission. They have come to write General Certificate Examination (G.C.E). Most of them are penultimate students in secondary schools. These little fellows have been fixed at centres nearby to write their exams and the people that brought them have accommodation as part of the payment agreement. Some of these children are leaving home for the first time. Some of them look like mom's pets. Immediately they hit the town, you see a lot of ambiance and noise, something like a carnival. They make noise in the morning while looking for water for domestic use and in the evening when they are back from their different centres. It's always a new experience for most of them, and they seem to enjoy it: yea, they seem to enjoy being away from home for a whole month, a kind of escape from the eagle eyes of their parents; they seem to enjoy a t...
