Dear Client,
Now that you know what Business Name Registration is, you must also know that it is not all Business Names that require registration.

Thus, what determines whether you require registration at all is the  name you have decided to adopt for your business. The following names DO  NOT require registration:
1. Name and Surname of the Proprietor  (e.g. Olukayode Olugbemi Enterprise)
2. Name and Surname of Partners in a partnership  (e.g. Olukayode Olugbemi and Taiwo Hassan )
3. Initials and Surname of Partners in a partnership  (e.g. O.Olugbemi and T.Hassan)
4. Initial and Surname of the Proprietor (O.Olugbemi Enterprise).

Please note that any other use of name apart from the real names of the owner (s) would require registration. This is because the main intent of business name registration is to identify the name and face behind a business.

If you have decided to register a business name,  please consult your legal practitioner. It is definitely cheaper to have your solicitor conduct all due diligence than to allow someone with no experience do it for you.

Got questions, feel free to drop a comment.

Have a productive day ahead,
Cheers,
Olukayode Olugbemi

THE GCE GIRL By: OLUSEGUN AKINSANYA

Every year we welcome into our community several teenagers between 13 and 17 from far and near. They are both male and female. They have the same mission. They have come to write General Certificate Examination (G.C.E). Most of them are penultimate students in secondary schools. These little fellows have been fixed at centres nearby to write their exams and the people that brought them have accommodation as part of the payment agreement. Some of these children are leaving home for the first time. Some of them look like mom's pets. Immediately they hit the town, you see a lot of ambiance and noise, something like a carnival. They make noise in the morning while looking for water for domestic use and in the evening when they are back from their different centres. It's always a new experience for most of them, and they seem to enjoy it: yea, they seem to enjoy being away from home for a whole month, a kind of escape from the eagle eyes of their parents; they seem to enjoy a t...
