The Lackadaisical Attitude By: Abdulkabeer ibn Tijaniy

Globally, education is considered as a human right that should be accorded to all human beings. In facts it was the reason a lot of fundamental human rights bodies consider education as a fundamental human rights.

However, in Nigeria educational sector, there is still darkness and absolute deception. It is full of favouritism and nepotism only the wards of the overlords are granted a qualitative education. Exploiting the masses but still claim to be running free education.

They keep reinstating the phrase"Education is the best legacy" but how are we to convince the next generation that it is truly the best legacy when we have rich criminals and poor graduate.

Education in Nigerian schools today has been politicize which seriously affected the development of educational institutions. Today many educational institutions are opened and run in many states on political ground or other flimsy reasons. In Nigerian schools today admission in universities, colleges, polytechnics, monotechnics are sometimes guided by politicians not academic performance.

Parents today used their political offices or influences for the education of their children. I was deeply disappointed with the executive governor of Oyo state,Sen.Abiola Ajimobi after his comment regarding the ongoing strike in lautech in his statement he was reported to have been confronting the students that school going on strike is not a new happening in Nigeria, imagine a governor reigning courses on the students reinstating to the students that he his the constituted authority.

Furthermore, another similar case to the above was that of the Kogi varsity were lecturers have withheld graduating students results and vowed not to release them except the school withdraw their "sack letters" and pay their arrears. After reading the nonchalant headline,it gears some thoughts in me.

The governments has money to squander for elected leaders but has no money to meet the Asuu demands. No amount of demands should be considered too much in respect to education.
I listened to barrack Obama in one of his inaugural speeches. He promised strong education for Americans and that is exactly what he has done during his administration.

Obama in most of his speech makes it a point to emphasize the importance of having a strong educational system, for you to know how important education is. I discovered that the Nigerian government implements similar models to that of united state government in terms of administration. But,I wonder why the Nigerian government has refused to adopt the same mindset and policy to that of the US in making the educational sector vibrant.

In conclusion,as i do say our fate is in our hands as a people we need to work together not as a divided people that we are now. we need to think, plan and act and not speaking in staccato voice.

DREAMS OF A perfect FAMILY VANDALISED BY A FAKE IFA PRIEST

Who is man to God? Who is God to man How much distance do our prayers cover by land? In relation to our circumstances and time What does man think of what he sees? And what does God see of what man thinks Emmanuel; God with us But Immanuel on Alakija Street is having spiritual blurred visions On a trip to the priest to inquire of what the future holds, Inheriting gold and paying exceedingly half its worth to verify if it’s gold The tales of Alamu the one with the gift of palmistry Brothers killed brothers, Because the other has been identified to be, The one who will inherit the gift of the fathers, Which of my kids shall be successful? Answers of which the priest shall deliver A gift of wine, a gift of hen, The fake priest gets fatter, Worshipers of the deity that sip champagne and eat gizzards Whilst living off the believers hazard Your mother is a witch Your sister is the glitch Until your siblings die your lineage shall not succeed, These priests we...

MAY YOUR ROAD BE ROUGH By Tai Solarin, Jan. 1, 1964

I am not cursing you; I am wishing you what I wish myself every year. I therefore repeat, may you have a hard time this year, may there be plenty of troubles for you this year! If you are not so sure what you should say back, why not just say, ‘Same to you’? I ask for no more. Our successes are conditioned by the amount of risk we are ready to take. Earlier on today I visited a local farmer about three miles from where I live. He could not have been more than fifty-five, but he said he was already too old to farm vigorously. He still suffered, he said, from the physical energy he displayed as a farmer in his younger days. Around his hut were two pepper bushes. There were kokoyams growing round him. There were snail shells which had given him meat. There must have been more around the banana trees I saw. He hardly ever went to town to buy things. He was self-sufficient.  The car or the bus, the television or the telephone, the newspaper, Vietnam or Red China were nothing to ...

TAPOTI By: Mao Zedong

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, indigo: Who is dancing with these rainbow colours in the sky? Air after rain, slanting sun: mountains and passes turning blue in each changing moment. Fierce battles that year: bullet holes in village walls. These mountains so decorated, look even more beautiful today. Artwork via: Forbes
