Nigeria @57 A COURSE FOR REFLECTION AND REDEDICATION By: YNA(OmOmeewa)

The entity call Nigeria was amalgamated, for over hundred years ago and today Oct 1st 2017, marks her 57 years of attaining freedom from colonial rule to self rule. No doubt, Nigeria has travel this part of history as a single entity hitherto therefore the vision to co exist for another centenary depends on our attitude, aptitude and altitude without leaving the questions of genuine leadership who has the willingness to keep Nigeria as an Single entity.

REFLECTION
Obviously, reflecting on the sojourn of Nigeria as a single entity for the past year of her existence, one will not but agree that, the challenge facing our nation is that of Leadership.

The Absence of quality  leadership from Nigeria government: to successive government and regimes translate to lack of vision to plan and organize Nigeria society on the basis of the wealth she has for herself to meet the social infrastructural needs of the growing Nigeria population.

However, what i mean by leadership is not limited to elected leaders in office but including roles responsible citizens in ensuring good governance. Obviously, genuine leaders, and correct responsible citizens roles are in adequate in our dear country Nigeria. Many whom are leaders and citizens who often play the role of purported  responsible citizens are either doing that for self agrandisement or recognition and personal benefits.

The few who has the political will and genuineness to organised the country are out numbered by the scrupulous ones, this make it difficulty and practically impossible to have a real change within such arrangements.

The points that also need to be made is that, the present national discourse on restructuring, the agitations of self determinations by IPOB, and other agitations within the country are product of failure of Nigeria Leadership to resolve the socio economic crisis affecting the country which if not resolved, its apt that cessations or devolution of power is incapable of ameliorating the conditions of the country.

REDEDICATION
Having Understand that, what Nigeria need is leadership, leadership and leadership in order to salvage this country from the part she's already toeing then we as Nigerians must begin to rededicate ourselves to the course of leadership. One can not expect the society to be better without playing roles. Its understandable that, the type of society we are is the type that makes living a thing of survival of the fittest.

However for me i think while we are after survival, we should also have in mind that playing our roles as responsible citizens to ensure good governance will make our survival task much more easier for everyone than putting a blind eye to governance, therefore we must not shy away from governance as it is the bedrock development and sustainable living.

Playing our roles as responsible citizens include but not limited to:
1. Collection of Voters cards
2. Belonging to a political party
3. Understanding the structure of governance
4.Voting in election
5. Sensitizing Fellow citizens on needs to be involve in governance.

Its also important that, while we agree that our dear country suffers from genuine leadership, the question of what class can best offer this leadership and what political philosophy is needed to guide this leadership are arguably inevitably.

We must understand that elitism plunder us to this current situation therefore the question of class is best answered with leadership coming from the background of the oppressed strata of the country and with the socio economic philosophy of social emancipation.

This therefore means that, ultimately to achieve the desire for a better Nigeria the labour movement (TUC, NLC, & ULC), Students Movement, Youths, Artisans and Professional must unites under a political platform that represent the interest of the mass of the people, as such contest for power, take over power and organise the resource of the state in the Majority interest.

Only if that is done and achieve then the unity and peaceful coexistence of diverse tribes in a single entity called Nigeria can be sustainable.

DREAMS OF A perfect FAMILY VANDALISED BY A FAKE IFA PRIEST

Who is man to God? Who is God to man How much distance do our prayers cover by land? In relation to our circumstances and time What does man think of what he sees? And what does God see of what man thinks Emmanuel; God with us But Immanuel on Alakija Street is having spiritual blurred visions On a trip to the priest to inquire of what the future holds, Inheriting gold and paying exceedingly half its worth to verify if it’s gold The tales of Alamu the one with the gift of palmistry Brothers killed brothers, Because the other has been identified to be, The one who will inherit the gift of the fathers, Which of my kids shall be successful? Answers of which the priest shall deliver A gift of wine, a gift of hen, The fake priest gets fatter, Worshipers of the deity that sip champagne and eat gizzards Whilst living off the believers hazard Your mother is a witch Your sister is the glitch Until your siblings die your lineage shall not succeed, These priests we...

MAY YOUR ROAD BE ROUGH By Tai Solarin, Jan. 1, 1964

I am not cursing you; I am wishing you what I wish myself every year. I therefore repeat, may you have a hard time this year, may there be plenty of troubles for you this year! If you are not so sure what you should say back, why not just say, ‘Same to you’? I ask for no more. Our successes are conditioned by the amount of risk we are ready to take. Earlier on today I visited a local farmer about three miles from where I live. He could not have been more than fifty-five, but he said he was already too old to farm vigorously. He still suffered, he said, from the physical energy he displayed as a farmer in his younger days. Around his hut were two pepper bushes. There were kokoyams growing round him. There were snail shells which had given him meat. There must have been more around the banana trees I saw. He hardly ever went to town to buy things. He was self-sufficient.  The car or the bus, the television or the telephone, the newspaper, Vietnam or Red China were nothing to ...

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, indigo: Who is dancing with these rainbow colours in the sky? Air after rain, slanting sun: mountains and passes turning blue in each changing moment. Fierce battles that year: bullet holes in village walls. These mountains so decorated, look even more beautiful today. Artwork via: Forbes
